I keep waiting for this swimsuit to go on sale just a teeny bit more so that I can justify buying it for next summer.

high school reunion

My ten year high school reunion is in October.  So, here's my question.  Are high school reunions becoming obsolete?

Let's face it.  You go to a reunion to see what everyone is up to, meet their spouses, and see who got hot after high school.  We have Facebook now.  I know all these things.  I know more than I ever wanted to know about most of these people.  I know where they went on vacation this year; I know what they ate for dinner last night; I see daily updates of their kids and dogs.

A few years ago I ran into a friend from high school at a random bar in Santa Monica.  Actually, Doug ran into her.  Had she ever met Doug?  No.  She instantly recognized Doug from my Facebook and knew that he was my husband.  The same thing happened last Christmas when Doug was surfing in Santa Cruz.  Jimmy's best friend growing up recognized Doug in the water and struck up a conversation with him.  So, either Doug has such a sexy, unforgettable face that everyone instantly recognizes him, or this is just the world we live in.  I'm going with the sexy face.

Am I going to go?  Yes.  I'm excited to reminisce and catch up with old friends.  Mostly, I'm excited for a night out and an excuse to dress up with my husband and my friends that I still see all the time.

Graduation.  The first time I ever straightened my hair.  And I never looked back.

Sorry prom friends for ruining this picture...

friday favorites

I thought that I would start posting some of my favorite clothing for kids that I've found around the internet on Fridays.  This week I'm loving: Zara's baby shoes.  Love. Love.

nine months old

Nine months old!
yes.  this is the best picture I could get.  most came out like this:

Weight: 18lbs 9oz (50%)
Height: 30 inches (off the charts!)

At nine months you:
  • Still don't officially crawl, but inch worm all over the house.  You follow me from room to room to make sure I'm not getting into any trouble.

  • Shake your head like you're saying "no."  You do it mostly when I'm putting you in your car seat or doing something else that you don't want me to do, but sometimes you'll do it in response to me doing something silly or when there is music playing.
  • Still aren't the greatest eater.  You eat about a tablespoon of food at breakfast and dinner.  Sometimes less.  I've been trying more finger foods lately, but we're struggling.
  • Wear size 2 diapers and size 6-9 month clothes.
  • Sleep at night from 7 pm to 7 am and take two naps at 9 am and 1 pm.  You're doing an early morning feeding at around 5 am, but I'm ok with that.
  • Are so social.  You smile at everyone, pretend to be shy with certain people, and watch people that aren't paying attention to you as if you expect them to look over and smile at you.

You love:
  • Shaking things.  Like play gyms, coffee tables, toys, and anything else that makes a noise.
  • Standing at your activity table.  I still sit right behind you in case you lose your balance, but you rarely do.
  • Your dad.  Now you cling on to him if I try to take you and start crying when he hands you to me.  It's kind of sad but mostly adorable.
  • Cheese!  We gave cheese to you for the first time, and it's the first food that you seem to love.  Mama and her siblings are extreme cheese lovers, so this doesn't surprise me.
  • We bought you a toothbrush when you teeth came in.  It's your favorite toy.
  • Animals.  Especially dogs.  When we were in Santa Cruz, you would spend hours on the floor watching Harvey and Penny and letting them lick your face.

Highlights of the Month:
  • Spending a week and a half in Santa Cruz while Daddy was at camp with the high school group.  We played at parks, went to farmers markets, splashed in the kiddie pool, and best of all, got to spend time with Uncle Jimmy!

Kennedy and cousin Charlotte
  • We've started swimming at a friend's house every Wednesday with a bunch of other moms.  We even gather all the babies in a circle and sing songs together.  You love it!

  • Play dates and park dates with all of your little buddies.  We try to get out of the house to meet with a friend every day.

play group at the fountain

Today we had our weekly play group at a splash pad near our house.  I was a little weary and nervous that the kiddos were too young to enjoy it, but they LOVED it.  The fountains were on super low, and there were only a few older kiddos there, so they had the whole place pretty much to themselves.

And wouldn't you know it, Holly and Ben decided that today was a great day for the fountains too!  What a great surprise!

Yep.  All those babies are with us.

Also, yes, I bought Kennedy one of those UV rash guards.  It makes me the tiniest bit sad that she doesn't get to wear her adorable bathing suits as much as I would like, but it really is just so much easier than trying to get sunscreen into all the nooks and crannies of an extremely squirmy baby.  I know, I know, what happened to fashion before comfort?  Who am I?
